A Go-Go is my nick name! My real name is Ashley Whittaker and I'm a freelance graphic and industrial designer. I pride myself on being a creative and passionate individual committed to excellent design. I am a do-it-yourself type who gets things done and is not afraid to take on a challenge.
As a freelance designer and small business owner, I know the value of personal and on-time service, collaboration, and dependability. You can count on me to handle your design, research, and marketing needs.
Using comparative research, identifiable branding, and innovative designs A Go-Go will help your business stand out in a densely crowded market place. With experience from package design to catalog, print marketing, banners, and branding all your design needs are covered.
Brand Identity
Your brand identity is about customer perception in its entirety. This includes your logo, website, print materials, voice, and customer service. When creating or redesigning a brand, it is crucial to take time to research, benchmark, and strategize to be successful.
Logo Design
Your logo is a statement and is an element in your brand identity. It should evoke a feeling and educate your customers in a single glance. Are you upscale or everyman? Are you traditional or modern? Are you serious or funky? Your logo should tell it all.
Big Idea
If you strip away all the extras, what does your brand stand for? Your brand must be well understood, strategically positioned, and refined into a single unifying concept or phrase. For Apple it's "Think different", for Mini Cooper it's "Let's Motor", for GE it's "Imagination at work"....What's yours?
Inspire your Congregation
People are bombarded daily with images and messages from many forms of media. It takes a dynamic design or engaging image to grab their attention.
Don't let your message get lost! Engage your audience using powerful custom visuals from A Go-Go Creative Consulting. My images will evoke your congregations' personal experiences, emotions, and promote discussion.
Something to Build On
If you're building a new ministry, starting a new campaign, or just need to spice up your print and visual materials A Go-Go can provide a fresh graphic theme to unify your ideas and inspire people to volunteer, get involved, or make a contribution.
Use printed brochures to reach out to new members, recruit for Bible Studies, or privately answer some questions about a support group. Posters and Banners can make a huge change if your lobby, gathering area, or children's rooms are looking drab, out of date, or less than inspiring. If your church doesn't already have a Welcome Packet, consider a professionally printed and designed packet to give a warm welcome to new members.
If you have a new campaign coming up, a postcard in the mail is a cost-effective reminder to give or get involved!

A Statement of Faith
I realize you may be wondering if the designer behind these graphics is in fact a Christian. The answer is a loud and affirmative yes. I am a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Champaign , IL. I enjoy being part of the community at Fatih, and have been involved in Operacion Hogar, a bi-annual mission trip to Juarez, MX. Before making Faith my home church, I also visited and enjoyed the Vineyard in Champaign, Richwoods church of Peoria, and Northwoods Church in Peoria.
Porter Athletic is a "World Leader in Quality Sports Equipment". Porter manufactures and sells a variety of athletic equipment including overhead basketball equipment, volleyball nets and posts, soccer goals, and much more. A large portion of Porter's specialty is engineering ceiling suspended gymnasium equipment- as you might imagine it takes a wealth of specifications to accomplish such a task. To communicate those specifications to their audience Porter uses a Design Binder.
The Porter Athletic Design Binder is a reference product for the client's dealer and architect network. The total project included not only the Z-fold brochure (shown to the right), but also a cover and spine, and nine informational swatch card sheets. The design not only needed to speak to the aesthetic of the artchitectural audience, but convey technical information in an easy to understand way.
The design incorporates the Porter Corporate color Navy blue and a gold accent color that is commonly used in Porter materials. In this design, space became extremely important in creating an organized yet not overcrowded feel. On the front of the brochure (top image, right side) a small magnet is placed and a thumb drive attached and stored for use by the customer.
Gill Athletics is known as "Innovators in the Sport of Track and Field". Gill produces track and field equipment like throwing implements, hurdles, and pits. Coaches all over the country count on Gill track and field equipment year after year for their track programs.
Gill equipment has traditionally been sold through a loyal dealer network and has recently begun working on a retail line of products for sale in stores or online.
My challenge in this project was to create a single box that could be used to house all the discs manufactured by Gill. After creating the physical box itself the real bulk of the project began. There were 11 unique box designs to create and 6 sides of the box to create.
Gill Athletics has several sub-brands that is markets including Hollowood Star, OTE, and Pacer. In designing the boxes, each of these subbrands needed to be represented yet still maintain a family feel between all the boxes.
The project was completed in early 2011 and the boxes are now in use today.
Stewardship campaigns are a common occurance in many churches. The simple truth is that every year these organizations rely on donations and faithful giving for everything from power bills to mission trip support.
In 2011, I partnered with Faith United Methodist Church in Champaign, IL to create a dynamic Stewardship campaign. The theme was"Let's Make it Count" and challenged the congregation to out-do their previous giving by asking if they felt they were doing enough in four key areas: the Cornerstone (education), the Cross (worship), the Commandment (outreach), and the Community.
Using these four primary directives, I created a symbol that is meant to act as a compass for the church, each directive replaces a direction. In this way, the compass helps guide the churches decisions in 2012 by serving as a reminder of the commintment they've made.
The accompanying brochure was sent to all the members of the church explaining the new direction, outlining past giving and 2012 goals. The visual scheme has an element of gravity appropriate to the content, but is also colorful and engaging.
CREAT is a start-up company created by Anita Davidson of Creative Rehab. Anita is a physical therapist and frequent lecturer on the topic of creative rehabilitation. CREAT (Creative Research, Education, and Training) will be an outlet for different lectures, research studies, and educational materials.
There were some specific requirements that Anita desired when we started this project. We wanted the new identity to relate to her existing logo, green and blue color schemes were requested, and the incorporation of some sort of triangle. Also, when we started we weren't sure of the name between CREAT and CREI.
During the process we went through several iterations and fine tuning until we came up with something that relates to her existing business (the figure is part of the existing logo), can be broken into the components for simplified use (i.e. just the triangle portion of the design, and feels modern yet academic.
